Falling in Love to Saturday

Saturday (Nov 19):

One of my most anticipated days after O's. Before i went out, i groomed as best as i could, fixed my hair to the smallest detail, cementing my stray hairs. I was well shaved, smelt the smell of soap, and sprayed with davidoff coolwater.. Not noticing the time.. and then i realized that i was late..... again.. so i quickly dashed to City Hall mrt. Ashley waited for me in there for 30 mins cuz i was late for 30 mins! Damn i hate myself! I couldn't manage my time properly. When i saw her, she looked gorgeous! She even gave me a Christmas gift, and i feel like an asshole.. I was late, and i didnt have anything for her! Then we went to esplanade to find a cafe or a restaurant, but couldnt find any.. So we went further and reached the merlion statue and fullerton and still couldnt find any descent and affordable restaurant.. But since fullerton was just infront of us, we decided to check fullerton out, since i havent been there before, and i had planned to eat dessert there in the chocolate buffet. We asked around and found out that the place was fully booked! And so my planned failed and i didnt have any plan B or any back up plan.. Letting me feel more of an asshole! But thanks to Ashley, she knows lots of places on where to eat. She brought me to Holland Village, where there lies a stretch of road full of restaurants. I was mesmerized by the place, but even more mesmerized by the fact that Ashley knows so much! Holland Village is very far from the east and i kept on wondering how she knew all those places! We ate at Crystal Jade Kitchen and ordered Tim Sum. She was the one who took care of our orders cuz i didnt know what food was nice and the waitress was speaking in Chinese! While Ash and the waitress was talking, i could only understand 50% of what they were saying.. And that's how lousy my chinese is!
After that, we went to Orchard Road and planned to go to Hard Rock Cafe. But we changed our minds and went window shopping in Paragon, Takashimaya, etc. I thought Ash was going to meet her friends at around 9.30, so i contacted netty to go to clarke quay with me. But when Ash asked where I'd go after she leaves, i told her about me and netty, and to my surprise, Ash wanted to go either! I was so happy that our night didnt end as early as 9.30.
We met netty, samantha and Shu lin in clarke quay, and we decided to go to Attica, just to see what its like inside.. But as soon as we walked towards the door, the macho and tall bouncer confronted us and asked my age. He said while his hands on his waste: "How old are you?". Then I said that i was 18, and he said with a very masculine voice: "You need to be 25 to be able to go in here." They were very strict, and i think it'll be impossible for me to get in even without the girls and even with a beard! So i just said ok, and turned back, a bit of embarrassed.. So we decided to go to Boat quay instead cuz the pubs there are desperate to have customers cuz every pub goers go to clarke quay. We went to this Tikki bar and ordered our drinks. I thought everything's gonna be fine, but the guy there asked for our I.C.. I was worried that the same thing will happen, so i tried to look into the guys eyes, to make a gesture to give us a chance, and since the manager was behind him, i could just tell him to give us a chance. He looked at our I.C.s giving this impression that he was deciding whether to tell the manager or not.. In the end, he let us in. But when the girls went in, he whispered to me: "Err.. actually, 3 of ur friends are below 18". then i whispered while tapping his shoulders: "Can lah, we'll be here for a short time only. We'll leave soon." Then he beckond that everything's ok and it was cool. So i thank him like he was my friend.
So we got in.. I ordered a pine of tiger beer (since there was no other beers available for pines) and the girls ordered cocktails.. The music was loud.. The same amplitude that i was hoping for our class' prom. People were smoking and the place was very small.. But the worse part was that the music sucked! They were playing this old style techno.. the ones like para para sakura and stuffs.. Some Ah Lian girls were dancing like shit! They were very disgusting especially the part when the song says something like "...my shining star..." Then at the same time, those girls would look up and pretend that there was stars above them, shinning brightly! I enjoyed watching them, not because they look good or hot, but because it was so hilarious! Samantha was also hilarious because as the drinks were served, sam tasted it and then broke into a disgusted expression! She quickly brought out her water bottle and drank water to take the taste out! After that, sam couldnt stand the smoke and the music so Ash accompanied her to go out and take a walk. Shulin, netty and i stayed there for a while, and when we've decided to leave, i quickly drank their left overs. and left.. When we arrived at the raffles mrt station, we took photos and Ash and netty's cheeks were red, and i was a bit tipsy, but still could walk properly and still fair-skinned! And then we went home, tired and satisfied. Ash met her friends in city hall mrt. It was a great day! and it was one of the best since prelims era.

Last day in hell

Finally!!! 'O' level exams are over! And im here busy as hell! So many things happened for the past few days especially since the last day of our Chemistry paper.

Friday (Nov 18):

The chem paper was relatively easy, especially paper 1 which i finish for only 30 mins. Im just hoping that with that speed, my accuracy wont be affected. We ended the paper at aroung 6 pm and i had to go home with haste because Netty has already reserved tables for us in Rice Table in Somerset at 8.. But i was still at home at around 7.00.. So yeah, as usual, i was late again.. typical of me..
Rice table is an indonesian food and Shierly and the indon gang introduced me to the foods! Shierly was teaching me the name of this food with potato.. She said bergerdel, but i'd forget the name within 10 mins. I'll ask her the name again every now and then, but still, i failed to memorize the name.. So what i did was i just pronounced bergerdel as burger-del.. That way i could remember it, even till now!
After we ate, we discussed and solved problems regarding the prom. And then went to Cineleisure to check out some movies. Unfortunately, the cinema was fully booked so we just went bowling somewhere in orchard. I scored very high scores that time and i taught Kok Chuang how to bowl. Then we went home at around 1 am, via taxi with samantha and netty.. We planned to drop samantha and netty first since samantha's house is nearer and netty is sleeping over to sam's house. But, a very hilarious thing happened.. Sam got lost! she couldnt find her own house and we went round and round bedok. The taxi fare kept on topping and topping as we circled the area. Finally, she found her house and i went home. The taxi fare was $23!

Numbered days

Exactly 31 days left for my departure to Philippines, and i dont understand how i feel. I feel excited, looking forward to go home again, and yet, i have this painful feeling to leave.. Painful that everything's happening all over again, just the same as last time before i left Philippines and took my first step to Singapore's soil. Painful that i'll lose something, something that is very dear to me. That something is friends. My friends here in singapore are one of the most special things in my life. My classmates in sec 3 and 4, the longest classmates i've ever had. I only spent a year for my classmates in the Philippines in my first year high school, but here in singapore, i spent 2 years.
Well, my days are numbered. I packed 3/4 of my stuffs.. My room, the living room, my sisters' room, the master bedroom, all look bare and dull. The cupboards, tables, drawers are all packed in boxes, my wardrobe are reduce to 3/4, my books have no place to sit but on the floor, my precious wakeboard packed in a box, which is which is equipped with a shock proof system (newspapers), able to withstand rough handling during the shipment. I wonder what will happen to this unit once were gone? I wonder what will happen to me once Im gone? Everything is unpredictable, my future is like a deep dark trench which no one is unable to see nor guess what lies beneath.

2 Days of Coolness

Hey! Its been a while since i posted some words here.. And now, i have tons of things to write, i dont even know where to start! And now, since my thoughts are inorganised, somewhere in the middle of this post, i'll have a mental block and i'll forget everything! Lemme start by recounting the things happened last friday, 21st of October.

Friday:
Hmm.. graduation day.. When i first thought of the word graduation, i thought of grand ceremony with tons of decorations and expensive set ups of tables and chairs, with photographers here and there and teachers dressed like they are attending the oscars award, and parents overly decorated with jewelries, pearls, diamonds, gold, clad in thousand dollar plus dress and suits, and graduating students clothed with sleek suits and shiny leather shoes. But, i guess my imagination was rather excessively vivid. That kind of stuff only happens in the Philippines, and i guess im now in Singapore, my expectations should tone down a big notch, since socialiaty isn't a trend in this place. Nonetheless, i still attended the graduation ceremony. It was not what i expected, but its alright since im now in a different place. After the graduation ceremony, we headed to orchard road to find us (the big battalion of 4E) a restaurant big enough to accomodate us. We hopped from mall to mall, searching for THE restaurant, but unfortunately, we couldnt find any. Every restaurant was packed! Well, its quite inevitable since we were in orchard on friday night! After a decade of scouring, we gave up and decided to order and eat pizza in Natalia's condomenium. We went there by public transpo (unlike last time when we rode a taxi) and when we reached, everyone was very very hungry. The pizza arrived around 20 mins later and we devoured the poor little italian pie! We also ravaged over the pitiful chicken legs.. Those people are barbarous! Well, ok, im guilty, i was one of them, and i ate 5 slices of pizzas and 6 pieces of chicken legs! After that, we took tons of photos and went home exhausted.

Sunday:
The day of the HSBC Wakeboard Worldcup Competition. The venue: Bedok Reservoir... Just across my house!!! Damn im so lucky! At around 12 noon, i went down with my sisters and my dad and my board. While i was strolling down the road towards the reservoir, i carried my board proudly, awared that the passers-by are eyeing at me (well, ok, maybe not at me alone.. both at my board and me! They are not just looking at my board!). My sisters were laughing because almost everyone, including the people in theis cars, were looking at me! I feel so high! When we reached the reservoir, we settled at a spot. My dad circled the place around without us, and when he returned, he carried with him handfuls of freebies from HSBC and oakley- posters and stickers and other stuffs. We stood at a spot that seems like a walk way for the pro-stars to walk in and out of their tent. Suddenly, Jeff Weatherall, 2003, 2005 world champion from New Zealand, walked by. I wasn't sure if it was him because i was used to seeing him from afar, so i softly said "Jeff, Jeff" and when he looked at me, then i was sure that it was really him. I asked him if i could have his autograph and brought my board on top of the railings. He signed it and my sister took pictures of us. 30 mins later, Another wakeboarder walked by. Daniel Watkins, an australian who is the best decorated rider winning tons of awards from competition, was walking towards me wearing his pink board shorts. I called his name, this time confident because I've seen him in the net and wakeboard magazines. Again, he signed my board and took photos. After about an hour, another one came. 16 yr old Philip Solven from america, 1st place in the HSBC Wakeboard worldcup competition in 2004. Again, he signed my board and took pictures. He said "Thats a cool board you have there!" Then i said "Haha, its an old board." Wow! He likes my board! Im so flattered! haha!
We watched the competition from 12 noon to 6 pm.. 6 hours under the unforgiving sun! No wonder the pros looked like barbecued lobsters! Well, me either.. i was turning into one. At the end, they announced the winners of the competition. 1st Place is Philip Solven (Again); 2nd place is Jeff Weatherall; 3rd Place is Dan Knot (British rider).. Unfortunately, Daniel Watkins is in the 4th place because his board cracked after doing a big trick in between the run. He needed to change his board within 3 mins, or else he will be disqualified. He made the 3 mins limit but in the middle of his run, his bindings (boots attached to the board) went loose, and decided to call it off. I was disappointed of course cuz he's one of my favourite riders.
When i went home, my face was red and my arms are now two-toned. My upper arm is white and my lower arm is red. But the torture of the sun was worth it because in return, i had the very rare autographs and pics. Its an unforgettable moment for me.
